I have a small number of these amazing books, which were kindly signed by Steve Machat for the Leonardcohencafe.
"Gods, Gangsters and Honour" is a no-holds-barred, insider account of over 5 decades in the music industry. It is a story about oversized egos, multi-million payoffs, scandalous behaviour, and the realities behind the images the rock gods like to portray. Written by a man who tells the truth without fear to his reputation."
In this book are 2 very interesting chapters about Leonard Cohen, which is a must read for every fan. I guarantee that you will look at the music industry in a different light, after you have read this book.
Book has kindly been signed by Steve Machat.
Paper back, used book. In very good condition, pages unmarked.
Beginning with his privileged Montreal upbringing, this biography traces Leonard's development from a promising young poet and novelist to Canada's own Bob Dylan, from the laughable "bard of the bedsits" to the international pop sensation of today.
2 similar large bookmarks at a ridiculously low price. 10cms by 21cms, made in card. Professionally produced.

For the serious Leonard Cohen fan, this is a must read. Steve Machat, one of the names behind the dvd Bird on the Wire, reveals all in an insider account of over 5 decades in the music industry. It is a story about oversized egos, multi-million dollar payoffs, and the realities behind the images the rock gods like to portray.
Inside this book, is a lengthy chapter about our hero, Leonard Cohen. Steve gives all the answers to many questions including:
1. Why was Leonard scared of lawsuits and courtrooms.
2. How Steven Machat warned Leonard about his association with Kelley Lynch. Also, why has Leonard refused to prosecute Kelley Lynch.
3. Is Leonard a Buddhist or Jewish?
4. Why does Leonard refuse to pay to Machat and Machat what he owes, following the sale of Stranger Music?
5. What happened to the woman, the song Suzanne was about?
6. The relationship between Leonard's manager and Leonard's girlfriend, Anjani.
With the aid of rare and classic performance footage of both Cohen and those he has been influenced by most, plus exclusive interviews with Judy Collins; his biographer Ira Nadel; poet and Cohen academic Stephen Scobie; the man who guided Leonard through the rituals at the Mount Baldy Buddhist Monastery, Kigen; former Rolling Stone magazine editor Anthony De Curtis and many others, this fascinating and wholly unique film is unlike any document on this most extraordinary of composers yet to appear. The film also contains seldom seen photographs, archive footage of Cohen in interview and a host of other features.
EXTRAS; Include, Special Feature 'Cohen by Collins' Judy Collins speaks about her love for the music of Leonard Cohen; plus Contributor Biographies and Beyond DVD section.
Imported bootleg but very good audio quality - includes reading of his masterpiece "God is Alive, Magic is Afoot" and possible the earliest version of Leonard singing "The Stranger Song". Recorded at the Young Men's Hebrew Association in New York.
Please note that this is not an authorised cd. The packaging may not be as good as an official cd, but the audio is excellent. Serious collectors will love this!

A lot of people complimented me on my t-shirt at the recent concerts, so I have bought a few from my supplier to offer to you. Have a look at the picture. It has one of my favourite pictures of Leonard and there is a small Cohen quote at the top right of picture:
.
"Poetry is just the evidence of life.
If your life is burning well,
Poetry is just the ash."
.
The preshrunk T-Shirt is made of 100% Cotton, with an ultra tight knit surface.
